Just think about how many families could be fed, housed, clothed and education with just a fraction of the money the current candidates have raised to run their campaigns. If Habitat for Humanity had raised 32 million in one month, wow, what a difference that could make. As Americans we need to get our priorities straight.

I couldn't agree more! Why on earth do they need those amounts of money anyway?! Edwards had it right with public financing and since the network media uses PUBLIC airwaves, maybe they shouldn't get to charge so much to air candidate ads (assuming they aren't attack ads).

We need to get the money out of politics so that people learn to look out for the COUNTRY'S interests and not just THEIR own.

Did you see the new challenge put out to Obama on the public financing? Interesting, apparently, prior to knowing he was going to be raising oodles of cash, Obama said he would try and get an agreement from the republican candidate to do public financing in the general on both sides. Now that it is clear he is going against McCain, apparenlty McCain's camp is calling out the challenge, and Obama, uhh....what he really meant to say was.....

Public financing should be mandated when running for office. Ridiculous the money spent to woo voters and super delegates. Money in the wrong hands corrupt, and we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Good idea about public airwaves xpanshun... I'll vote for that. smile.gif

Me too, you have two votes for that. We don't need corrupt candidates. Make financing public and we will surely know whose the right person in that office. I even heard on the news that taxpayers money that are used for US grants are being used for their financial candidacy needs.
