Long-expected decision
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court issued a long-expected decision in a case with direct bearing on Enron shareholders. The Supremes found that third parties can't be held liable in cases of fraud.
The 5-3 decision in what's probably the most important securities case in a decade has grim implications for all investors, not just those who owned Enron stock.
"They're basically providing escape routes for people who are going to be pursuing their own game at the expense of investors," said Stephen Arbogast, a finance professor at the University of Houston and author of Resisting Corporate Corruption: Lessons in Practical Ethics From the Enron Wreckage.
