Senate to investigate rendition abuses

Abuses carried out under the CIA's secret programme of extraordinary rendition are to be investigated by one of the Senate's most powerful committees, it emerged today.

The new chairman of the Senate armed services committee, the Democratic senator Carl Levin, revealed that he was "not comfortable" with the rendition system and said it was making the US less secure.

The extra-judicial programme has seen untried criminal suspects rounded up by CIA operatives in more than a dozen countries and sent to third states for interrogation. Some captives have allegedly been snatched off the streets and suffered torture in detention.

Asked whether he would investigate the renditions programme, including the secret prisons and missing detainees, Mr Levin replied: "Yes. Yes, yes and yes."

They better be careful.....they might see jr and lil al watching videos of what has been happening there while munching popcorn and hitting the replay button.

Sorry, but you cannot in good conscience tell me that jr and his clowns do NOT know FIRSTHAND by pics, videos, audio recordings, etc. just exactly what was being done to who and when and with what.

I would like nothing more than to have something like that get exposed and given air time to finally convince the American people just what havoc and treasonous actions have been taking place with this admin....

"See it at 6 - - - Waterboarding......and you thought it had to do with a surfboard and 12' waves......see the Bush version firsthand"... and of course all stated very perkily with NO sense of remorse by the likes of Katie Couric and Sean Hannity types.

Ok, that won't happen, but people need to understand EXACTLY what has been going on with these nicely worded 'rendition abuses.' I could just gag. And then McCain, OF ALL PEOPLE, supports this crap. Evidently time has warped his memory of his stint in a POW camp.

My dad was held as a POW on a Japanese held island in WWII and thankfully it was only for a short time, but he wrote a journal about it while recuperating in the hospital and it is harrowing to say the least. Some of it is written on a brown grocery sak.
