Rox, thanks for posting this - it's so good to see our new chairman taking control. My favorite part was about the shoe, but this just made me want to sing:
The highlight of the night came in the phase of the debate when panelists were invited to ask questions. Perle had just spoken for a while, trashing the Dems on national security as usual. The panel then asked Dean an unrelated question. Before responding to that question, the Good Doctor said to Perle something like "Before I respond I want to say that Richard has attempted to do something that I'm not going to let him get away with, and that is frame the debate. As chairman I don't intend to let them continue to frame the debate." Be still my beating heart. You could almost hear Luntz sighing in dismay and Lakoff sighing in relief.
I love Howard Dean.

Things are going to change. O boy, things are going to change!

Wouldn't allow Perle to frame - you go Dean. IMO, we have a man who's not going to take crap from any of the old gang. biggrin.gif

Looks like the "Prince of Darkness" might have met his match....in effect, Dean told his "get thee behind me, Satan".....

When he compared the invasion and occupation of Iraq to "Fire Insurance"? (It came right after the shoe incident, and understandingly provoked a huge groan of outrage from the crowd.) It was something like,
at the end of the year when your house hasn't burned down, [we didn't find the WMD's], do you look upon the insurance you took out as having been a bad investment?
For anyone to have said something like that, he would have to be as cold as a dead fish; not to be conscious that we spent something besides ca$h for this 'insurance policy' in Iraq. We have spent [b]blood If I have been there, he would certainly had caught my shoe, while it was still attached to my foot.

But if anyone has that exact, `unfreaking-believable` quote, I would sure appreciate seeing a copy of it, and I will pay you back [i]sometime
