In a partyline `52-44` vote, with Sen. Harry Reid (`D-NV`) withholding his vote, the Senate has passed the debt ceiling increase. Now it goes to the House.
The troubling thing is that no matter how you liik at it this had to be dome because otherwise we default on all of our obligations and noone gets their Social Security checks. They are going to have to deal with the fiscal crisis created by the increase when they return in January after the Freshman have been sworn in.
What about Social Security? Let's tell the truth about it because there isn't any question that we have been spending Social Security moneys for any and everything but Social Security, in violation of the law.
Got this quote from another thread, Hollings. I'm really tired of them using Social Security to cause fear in people. Meanwhile, they are stealing our money, IMO and many others.
That top 2% will never get the fear factor, they need to default on their paycheck. Outsource the debt to Halliburton and all the corporate buddies. It's obvious they have NO conscience or accountability.

I think the taxes will be raised during the next term, especially if they want SS Reform. There is no way that they can keep cutting taxes and increasing the debt.

Say what you want....passing some kind of "tax reform" that is akin to "flat rate" or "national sales tax" schemes will raise the amount of taxes that most middle and lower income people are paying.

No tax reform or SS reform initiative can even begin to survive the lawmaking process if they do not tell us how they will pay for it. I think that they will try to do SS reform first. This may require a raise in taxes among other options for payment. I am hoping to know more soon.

They spent our Social Security money, it is not legal to do that. Foreign countries are going to ask for their loans to be paid back, they will get the money off what's left of the middle class. Plastic turkey's, all of em!
I've never seen such a reprehensible bunch. Their debt ceiling has no bounds, unless they would have to pay it themselves.
